Nettle and Thorn Apothecary is based in MN. Our mission is to create products to that help nourish the body, mind and soul.

My name is Kelly. I am the owner, an herbalist and Witch. My belief is that plants are not only there to nourish us, but to guide and teach us. They provide us with life and beauty. In return, we need to listen to the Earth and give back what we take. We are beings in harmony with the outside world, you can feel it when you dig your toes into the dirt or run your fingers through the leaves of a plant.

A little of my backstory

I have always known I wanted to work with plants, but learning herbalism was intimidating. 3 years ago I took the plunge and started my journey at the Midwest School or Herbal Studies studying under Matthew Alfs. Last year I received my certificate in Western Herbalism with one of the highest grades (according to my teacher). It was here that I got my foot in the door and started to understand herbs. There were still so many, but I now had the foundations to build and grow.

Currently I am enrolled and studying with Lise Wolff another local herbalist in her Three Season’s program. She focuses on local native plants as well as working with Flower Essences. I have gained so much in the few months I have been enrolled, not only learning how to heal the physical, but also heal the emotional.

During my studies, I also dig deep into the magical realm of herbs. The uses for magic and the uses for healing are not much different when you start to dig down. There is always so much to learn, but for now I am learning the plants and planets. (Plus numerology because I find that fascinating!)

My passion for healing and herbs grows every days. As I learn and dig I feel more and more connected to the energy that surrounds us in nature. Everyday I try to learn one thing new, whether that be of magical nature or healing.
